Design writer. Journalist. Author. And so much more.

I am an American freelance writer based mainly in Prague. In my adopted city, I built my career from scratch (no contacts, no J-school) through unwavering persistence and drive, good instincts and boundless curiosity. Today my bylines include The New York Times, Monocle, Conde Nast Traveller and The Financial Times, among many others. Along with consumer publications, I also contribute to leading trade, association and university magazines.

As a writer specializing in architecture and design, I write about the built environment and the way people live. The spaces and places they inhabit. And the stories behind them. I’m passionate about projects that put craftsmanship, people and nature first. I swoon over new ideas and solutions as much as beautiful materials, thoughtful details, and balanced texture and color. Living in Prague has also proven to be fruitful ground for travel and other lifestyle topics as additional specialities. My stories have taken me around Europe, back to the U.S., where I spend several months out of the year, and beyond.

I also use my storytelling, research and interviewing skills to tell stories for leading global businesses and brands. As with my journalistic writing, I am able to see the big picture and the minutest details. I am meticulous. Every word counts. And obsessive. I immerse myself fully in every project, simply because I cannot help myself.

Features and profiles are my sweet spot, but I also write blog posts, case studies and reports. Prior to journalism, I was a copywriter, so I understand audience and strategy.

In the fall of 2021, my design book, Come Together, The Architecture of Multigenerational Living, co-edited with gestalten, made its way into the world. I have also contributed to The Monocle Guide to Hotels, Inns and Hideaways, Country and Cozy (gestalten, 2021) and more recently, Attitudes (Maas Lawrence, 2024), on renowned Dutch firm MVRDV.

In addition to the above, I write personal essays. Stay tuned!
